Following the success of the Alternative Investments virtual conference held in 2020 and 2021 and in-person in 2023, we are excited to be bringing you the Alternative Investments Forum 2024. The forum will be held on Thursday, 11 April 2024 at The Wanderers Club, Illovo, Sandton.

There is no uniform definition of Alternative Investments or a definitive list of alternative assets. The four broadest categories include public equity (property via REITS, investing in the shares of infrastructure companies), public debt (property via commercial backed securities, infrastructure via railway bonds), private equity (core property and value add and greenfield infrastructure) and private debt (mezzanine loans, often unlisted and unrated).
Subjects covered during the Alternative Investments Forum include – Navigating the new horizons in private equity, looking at the yield landscape and unconventional strategies for fixed-income assets, using hedge funds and beating the efficient frontier. Guest speaker, GG Alcock will join us as he unpacks the booming informal and township economy, its scale and the drivers of growth. During the day, a number of panel discussions will take place, including a panel with pension fund trustees on the challenges and how best to utilise Alternative Assets in a pension fund.
